St Catharines Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content deals with relevant provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The training's first component consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and exam. Following that is a customized hands-on session along with practical instruction and evaluation.

Course content applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting machinery. Particular instruction would concentrate on aspects of crane operation used at the trainee's workplace. Upon completion of the course, people training will know how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, related parts and attachments safely and efficiently.

The operator course's goal is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits that might develop when an individual operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be avoided with right habits. Training lessens the chance of a workplace injury or incident occurring.

The course would encompass approximately eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants are graded on their understanding of training material through written tests and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.

During the in-class session, participants would learn applicable causes of damages and occurrences, legislation and guidelines, internal responsibility, danger awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, pre-shift equipment inspections, safe hoisting/operating methods, types of hardware, equipment applications/rigging, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, turning/flipping loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.

The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training component is one to two hours. The instructor will train two operators at a time about skills such as right rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.

Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write an exam. Signed safety rules would be required from every participant. Individual wallet certificates would be given to successful trainees. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
